TEARGRIP is an ophthalmic formulation combining Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) and Sodium Perborate, designed to relieve dry eyes by providing long-lasting lubrication and moisture. HPMC acts as a tear substitute, forming a protective film on the eye's surface to prevent dryness and irritation, while Sodium Perborate acts as a preservative that decomposes into water and oxygen upon contact, minimizing irritation. TEARGRIP is available in 10 ml eye drop bottles.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose is a viscosity-enhancing agent that increases the moisture retention on the ocular surface, providing a soothing film that mimics natural tears. Sodium Perborate serves as a mild preservative that is gentle on the eyes, breaking down into non-irritating components (water and oxygen) upon application. This formulation effectively alleviates symptoms associated with dry eyes, such as irritation, burning, and grittiness.
SIDE EFFECTS
TEARGRIP is generally well-tolerated, but some patients may experience mild side effects, including:
Temporary blurred vision
Mild eye irritation or redness
Stinging sensation upon application
These side effects are usually temporary. Patients should consult an eye specialist if symptoms persist or worsen.
ADMINISTRATION OF DOSES
TEARGRIP is typically administered as 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed or as directed by an eye specialist. Before application, wash hands thoroughly, tilt the head back, and apply the drops while looking up. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to maintain sterility. The dropper bottle should be closed tightly after each use.
