Betahistine is a medicine used for the treatment covering ENT, Neuro, and Dermatology and prescribed by a General Practitioner. It is available in a strength of 16 mg in tablet form under the brand name SUREHIST-16. It is prescribed to patients having symptoms associated with hearing loss, dizziness, and removing fluid in the inner ear causing ringing in the ears.
How Does It Work?
It helps speed up the blood flow to clear or reduce the fluid in the inner ear. This medicine is also known as an antihistamine. Antihistamines medicine helps to stop histamine from affecting the blood cells. Such medicines are used to get rid of symptoms like hay fever, conjunctivitis, and reaction to insect bites. It helps manage the symptoms associated with Meniere's disease like vertigo and ringing in the ears, having symptoms of dizziness, loss of hearing, nausea, and ringing sound in the ears due to the collection of fluid.Administration Of DosageBetahistine has been used for a long time to prevent symptoms of Meniere’s disease. It is prescribed three times daily, having a gap of 6 to 8 hours. It should be taken after food. It is available in the strength of 8 mg and 16 mg. Follow the advice of your doctor about the dosage, and periodicity of treatment, as per your medical conditions.
Indication
Betahistine is a medicine administered to patients suffering from Meniere’s disease. If you miss the dose, take the same as early as possible. Do not take the forgotten dose if it is near the time of the next dose. In that case, skip the dose and take the next regular dose at the scheduled time.

Betahistine is prescribed to adults only. Preferably above the age of 18 years. It is not prescribed for children. Avoid this medicine in case you have high blood pressure because of a tumor in the adrenal gland. Betahistine is not to be administered to patients having asthma.
