CETLOC SYPLevocetirizine 2.5 mg + Montelukast 4 mg is a combination of two drugs in the form of syrup. The combination is available in a pack of Syrup Pet 60 ML. This syrup is prescribed by Pediatrics & General Physicians. This combination keeps the ventilatory function allergy free.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The first medicine in the syrup is Levocetirizine which works as an anti-allergic medicine. This medication is beneficial for skin diseases, the common cold, sore throat, allergies causing congestion, running or blocked nose, sinusitis, rhinitis, respiratory infection, and fever. Levocetirizine is an anti-allergic agent that prevents histamine (a chemical) to ease the patient from the symptoms of runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Levocetirizine reduces rhinorrhea, nasal eye itching, and sneezing. It increases nasal patency & reduces inflammation. The second salt available in the syrup is Montelukast. Leukotriene is blocked by montelukast. The lungs generate leukotriene. In addition to increased mucus production, it causes edema. The salt Montelukast decreases the production of mucus and helps clear the airways by reducing the activity of leukotriene. Therefore, Montelukast is used for the management of symptoms associated with asthma and helps to relieve common allergy symptoms like congestion, sneezing, and symptoms of running nose. It is also administered for exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB). Montelukast, the second salt available in the combination, does not manage all allergic conditions. This is an anti-allergic drug. This medicine is specifically used for allergies related to hay fever (allergic rhinitis). Hay fever is a condition leading to infections of the eyes, nose, and throat as a result of inhaling pollen produced by some plants. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor type 1 inhibitor. It decreases nasal congestion and reduces sleep impairment.
